For default Magento generates orders: 100000001, 100000002, ...
Flex Invoice (Custom Order Number) extension overrides a standard Magento number model for invoices, orders, shipments and creditmemos. With this module you may customize your orders, invoices, shipments and creditmemos, for example: OR1-0001/2011, OR1-0002/2011, ...
Each number model (invoices, orders, shipments and creditmemos) supports a prefix, suffix and a start value. For example, you set invoice model:
Prefix: FV%STOREID%-
Start Value: 0001
Postfix: /%YY%
And now your invoices will be generated automatically:
FV1-0001/11, FV1-0002/11, FV1-0003/11, ...
Features

- Maximum value: After reaching this maximum value is reseting to Start Value

- Support templates values for prefix and postfix: %STOREID%, %YY%, %YYYY%, %MM%, %M%, %W%
- Orders, invoices, shipments and credit-memos generate automatically

You may setup to generate invoice numbers is according to your accounting.
Order numbers: 001/2011, 002/2011, 003/2011, ...
